Visit to the Wallace Arts Trust at the Pah Homestead

ACMA’s October social event will be a visit to the Wallace Arts Trust at the Pah Homestead. This will include a tour of the art exhibition and a walk of the sculpture trail.

This will be on Sunday 10th October, time TBA.

ACMA will be providing drinks, refreshments and providing the entry fees.

Clued up: Jack the Ripper

Clued up: Jack the Ripper!

Our Autumn Social Event will be on April 3rd 2021, with at least two ACMA/YACMA teams competing in GeoGames’ outdoor murder-mystery adventure!!

This will be an outdoor escape game held across Auckland CBD, using their app to virtually solve the murder mystery of a new Ripper in town.

Waterbourne Takapuna Fun Run

Takapuna Run for a Cleaner Coastline

Please note: this event will depend on Alert Levels and the discretion of the organisers.

This year ACMA will participate in the Waterbourne Takapuna fun run and walk.

We are inviting all ACMA members to come join us for a day of fun and exercise whilst contributing to a charitable cause. ACMA will enter the 4km and 8km events. This is a great event for all ages and fitness levels! Family members are welcome.

We will meet at the start line (Takapuna beach) and finish line for an ACMA group photograph. Event map is as below.

ACMA will subsidize $15 to the first TEN ACMA or YACMA member sign-ups. Family members are not subsidized.

To Register:

  1. Sign up HERE before February 01

  2. Then sign up on the Waterbourne website HERE

  3. After registering, send an email to our treasurer with proof of payment and bank account details - ACMA will reimburse as appropriate.

Our speakers:

Dr James Wethasinghe (Respiratory Physician) - NZ Asthma Guidelines 2020 and COPD-X

Dr. James Wethasinghe (MBChB 2010, PGCertCPU 2015, FRACP sleep 2018, FRACP General Medicine 2020) is an Auckland trained Respiratory Specialist. Born in Sri-Lanka, he has had all of his formative education in New Zealand. He is dual trained in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine and Acute General Medicine.

James is currently working as a Respiratory and General Physician in North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals, where he cares for a wide range of patients with General Medical and Respiratory diagnoses. He is actively involved in the development of the Waitemata District Health Board Sleep Service. His research interests are broad and he has published in the fields of: Sleep, Interstitial Lung Disease, Atypical Infection and Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria as well as Pleural Malignancy. Since 2018, James has been actively involved in formally teaching RACP candidates and is a honorary lecturer at the University of Auckland.

Kai-Shek Luey QSM (ACCC Chairman) - Poll Tax

Born in Westport, Kai Luey graduated from university as an electrical engineer. With a career spanning over 30 years as a corporate executive and CEO of international public companies in New Zealand, Australia and Thailand, Kai has held many leadership positions in the Chinese community and his current positions are:

  • Chairman of Auckland Chinese Community Centre Inc

  • Chair of Chinese Poll Tax Heritage Trust

  • Life Member of New Zealand Chinese Association Auckland Inc

  • Honorary Member of New Zealand Chinese Association Inc

  • Life Member of Wellington Chinese Sports & Cultural Centre Inc

In 2005, Kai was awarded the Queen’s Service Medal for services to the Chinese community.


This event is open to all doctors. Non-ACMA members are welcome to  attend the CME at $50pp. (Membership is $125 for the first two years for  all new members)

ACMA Walks the Mt Eden Boardwalk

ACMA welcomes members and family to the first social event of the 2020/21 calendar.

Mt Eden has been revamped, with a stunning new boardwalk, from the base to the summit.

Join us with family for a walk, at 10AM on Sunday 29 November 2020! Bring a picnic, or lunch at the café. ACMA will provide water and light refreshments.

We will meet at the new Mt Eden Visitor Experience Centre, an interactive experience that tells the story of Maungawhau / Mt Eden. The Centre explores the history of the region, including through the use of augmented reality.

This event is free for all ACMA and family members.
